The Awaited Arrival of Sonetto G2 Collection
It is with huge excitement then that we await the arrival of its new Sonetto G2 Collection!
With no less than seven speakers in the range - two bookshelves (Sonetto I & II), three floorstanders (Sonetto III, V & VIII), Sonetto Center and Sonetto Wall - Sonetto G2 has a solution for every situation; each model displaying the traditional Italian craftmanship and sumptuous aesthetics synonymous with this brand.
The Exquisite Design and Superior Craftsmanship
Natural musicality is at the centre of all things Sonetto – in both performance and looks. Design cues are inspired by centuries of musical instruments: lute-shaped speakers, an iconic Sonus faber design element, optimises sound dispersion for an immersive listening experience; the cabinets are crafted from organic wood and leather and incorporate an innovative cork internal chamber design; even the Sonetto name itself comes from the Italian for sonnet, or ‘little song’.
The Advanced Acoustic Technologies
Acoustically, Sonetto derives much of its characteristics from technologies developed for Sonus faber’s ‘most ambitious project to date’ – 2024’s flagship Suprema system, complete with an eye-watering £695,000 price tag!
Sonetto is the lucky benefactor of Suprema’s investment, and the range starts at a much more palatable £1,150.
Key Features of the Sonetto G2 Collection:
- Every Sonetto drive unit is custom engineered specifically for this collection, using the technologies and materials developed for Suprema, including the Camelia midrange driver, left unpainted for purity of sound, organic ‘basket’ shape and aluminium phase plug to ensure smooth frequency response and clarity, regardless of listening position in the room.
- Each model uses a new, optimised reflex duct design, engineered to enhance airflow and resonance control and enhance flexibility in speaker placement.
- Sonetto Wall has a sealed enclosure design, minimising air leakage and resonance to deliver agile, accurate reproduction; perfect if floor space is an issue but audio compromise is unacceptable.
- An organic shaped internal cork chamber, designed for Suprema, allows sound waves to flow uninhibited, dispensing with potentially disruptive interior speaker walls and gives more control over resonance.
- The mid and bass drivers feature a unique floral pattern surround which reduces interference, aids dispersion and adds a nice touch of natural elegance.
- Throughout the range, the tweeter is Sonus Faber's state-of-the-art Silk Dome DAD™ (Damped Apex Dome) technology, with a response extending beyond 30kHz thanks to the incorporation of a copper cup. That’s outside the human hearing spectrum of course, but reproducing these finest of nuances ensures exceptional overall clarity and detail
- A new concrete base enhances stability – a cornerstone of speaker performance as we know – and provides better vibration management while adding a certain modern industrial chic to the classic styling and wood and leather finishes.
